Northumbria Police Visit

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming local police officers to GYI for an interactive session with our young people. They brought along some of their old riot equipment, giving everyone a chance to learn about the different tools and protective gear used to keep communities safe. It was a fascinating experience that sparked plenty of curiosity and questions.

The officers spoke about teamwork, communication and the importance of staying calm under pressure. The young people had the opportunity to try on helmets and shields, learning how the equipment is designed to protect rather than intimidate. Seeing the officers share their personal experiences helped build understanding and trust between the group and the police.

Visits like this help our young people see the people behind the uniform and learn more about how the police work to support communities. We are very grateful to the officers who took the time to visit, share their knowledge and make the session both fun and educational.
