Children in Need

BBC Children in Need is a UK charity that supports thousands of projects and organisations across the country. They help children and young people who are facing challenges such as poverty, disability, illness and mental health struggles. The money raised goes directly to local and national initiatives that provide essential support, opportunities and safe spaces for young people to thrive.

At Gateshead Youth Initiative CIC, we share that same passion and purpose. Based in an area of high deprivation, we see first hand how important it is to offer young people a place where they feel valued, supported and inspired. By taking part in Children in Need, we are proud to stand alongside a national movement that helps create brighter futures for young people both here in Winlaton and across the UK.

Pudsey Themed Youth Club

Our Pudsey Day themed youth club was a fun-filled evening that brought lots of laughter and smiles. We ran a mix of challenges and games that got everyone involved and enjoying themselves. The young people especially loved our arts and crafts session, where they created their own versions of Pudsey the Bear using plenty of colour and imagination.

It was a fantastic night that celebrated creativity, teamwork and community spirit, all while supporting such an important cause. Seeing the young people so full of joy reminded us why these sessions mean so much to both them and our local community.

Our Children in Need Fundraiser

We decided we wanted to do more with our efforts to support Children in Need. Originally, we planned to donate the money raised from our session fees, but we soon realised we could make an even bigger impact by creating a GoFundMe page, allowing the wider community to get involved too.

It was an absolute joy to take part, and it showed not only our team at GYI but also our community that we can make a difference on both a regional and national level, even as a small local non-profit.
